FORRME have recently completed works at Meeting House Street in Ballymoney. This flagship project, for Lidl, involved the construction of a 1,420 sq metre retail store on an urban brownfield site. Construction of the new building comprised an innovative precast concrete frame, with glulam roof beam structure, enclosed with insulated wall/roof cladding & aluminium curtain walling. Siteworks also formed part of the contract, including widening of the carriageway on Meeting House Street to facilitate a filter lane into the new store.
Despite a number of obstacles, including some of the wettest weather since records began, FORRME successfully delivered this rapid-delivery project on programme. Furthermore, the site presented a number of complexities, not least the requirement for demolition of existing buildings/hardstandings, asbestos removal, remediation of contaminated soils, eradication of various invasive species, protection of existing services, removal of redundant oil tanks & requirement to maintain access through the site to local businesses. None were insurmountable & a flexible approach from FORRME ensured we could successfully overcome each, without negatively impacting the project.
